In Kippford:

Kippford in a small coastal village which made its name from small ship building, granite quarries and transporting goods round the coast by sea. It is now a holiday village surrounded by beautiful scenery, coastal walks, beaches and wild life reserves. Within 30 minutes drive there are castles, golf courses and forest mountain bike paths. There is also a thriving sailing club which host two major sailing weeks in July/August which attracts sailors from all round the world. The town of Dalbeattie is 5 miles away which has three suppermarkets, two local butchers, a Chinese carry out and a fish & chip shop.
